The International Forestry Students’ Association (IFSA) is a global network comprising of students in the forest science field. IFSA is a non-governmental, non profit and non religious organisation entirely run by students for students. Southern Africa is a region within the IFSA global umbrella. In Southern Africa IFSA comprises of two registered Local Committees (LCs) meaning those Forestry student associations are affiliated to IFSA - included here, is the Saasveld Forestry Association. Currently there are two LCs in the process of registering with IFSA which are Fort Cox College and the University of KwaZulu Natal. The Southern African Region has great potential for expansion and growth and it has been identified as one of the regions that requires more interaction and involvement of forestry students in forestry activities. Every year IFSA holds a symposium catering for all its members. This year, the Saasveld Forestry Association - SFA - has decided to do the same! The SARM is to be held from the evening of the 12th to the afternoon of the 15th of July 2011 and a full schedule of events has just been posted - you can have a look at the schedule above! (Details of the specific topics to be discussed as well as the abstracts will be made available soon.) Please fill in the UPDATED registration form posted below and return it to the fax number or e-mail provided in the form, by the 15th of June 2011 ... The event officially ends on the 15th at 15h00, yet you are welcome to remain until 10h00 on the 16th ☺
Where will the symposium be held? The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), George Campus, Saasveld. Directions: If entering George from the N2 coming from Cape Town or PE along the coast: Take the Garden Route Mall exit into Knysna road. Follow the road until coming to Pine Lodge on the corner of Knysna and Saasveld road. Turn right here into Saasveld road and follow for 5km until reaching the entrance of NMMU George campus on your left. If entering George coming from Oudtshoorn over the Outeniqua pass: Drive through George on Courtney road. Carry on as Courtney becomes Knysna road. Follow the road until coming to Pine Lodge on the corner of Knysna and Saasveld road. Turn left here into Saasveld road and follow for 5kms until reaching the entrance of NMMU George campus on your left.
